The Town & Country Band will celebrate Independence Day the same way it has for more than two decades, making music together in the Churdan city park.
The band has been rehearsing while keeping a social distance since late May, and a small ensemble played at the Highland Township Cemetery on Memorial Day.
“We respect and understand the library board’s decision not to serve a supper on July 4 due to the pandemic, but when we thought about not getting together and playing that evening, we knew we couldn’t stay away,” said the band’s director, Victoria Chargo.
The band will start playing at 7 pm Saturday, July 4. Persons who want to listen should bring lawn chairs and plan to maintain a social distance, or listen from their vehicles. “We’re playing because it’s what we like to do. We’ll play some new selections and some old favorites, and we guarantee we’ll have fun doing it,” Chargo said.
